I was hoping he would he would have a solid opinion one way or the other. What I ended up with was the expected, “There’s no medical reason to believe Milk Thistle helps liver disease“. I didn’t ask him for proof, I just wanted his opinion. After pressing a little he simply said he has read of people taking Milk Thistle Seed but had no first hand knowledge of the results, good or bad. He did say he thought it was safe enough and had no problem with me taking it if I thought it might help. Ok, fair enough. It wasn’t what I was hoping for but at least he didn’t insist I stop taking Milk Thistle.

As far as my own personal results from taking Milk Thistle Seed Extract, I honestly can’t feel a difference but there’s not much pain involved with my fatty liver condition. Every now and then I feel light pain on the right side of my abdomen where my liver is and that hasn’t changed. I can still visually see that the right side of my stomach is larger that the other. So, all in all, I haven’t seen or felt any improvement. I wasn’t expecting any miracles and it’s still pretty early in the game. I’m still taking one capsule (100 mg) every morning. I just received my latest order and I took another photo as proof I’m taking the herbal supplement. If anyone doubts that I am taking Milk Thistle I will be happy to post my latest invoice. I do earn a commission from any purchases using my affiliate link but it doesn’t cover the cost of my own order. At least it hasn’t yet ;)

Apparently the Post Office didn’t like the fact that I had it shipped to my name rather than my corporate business name. Anyway, that’s taken care of and I can start my self-prescribed herbal supplement treatment now. As I mentioned earlier, I have been diagnosed with an enlarged liver and beyond diet and exercise there isn’t much that can medically be done about it. Milk Thistle Seed Extract has been successfully used to heal and protect the liver for a very long time and I’m going to give it a shot.

I now have two 30 capsule bottles (a thirty day supply – two capsules a day) and more on it’s way. I’ve been on a Subway diet for months and I exercise daily with an elliptical exercise machine. So far I’ve lost over twenty pounds and I feel better yet I can still feel, and yes, even see the enlarged liver. I’m not that much over weight so I’m hoping the Milk Thistle Complex will do it’s magic and heal my liver.

Next week I have a doctor’s appointment (not the one that told me about Milk Thistle Seed Extract) and I’m going to ask him about the herbal supplements. Hopefully I can get an honest opinion without the typical ‘it is not regulated and I don’t want to get sued‘ attitude. To me, simply put, “there’s nothing I can prescribe” isn’t good enough if there are no alternatives.

I’m using this blog to chronicle my milk thistle treatment and this is just the second post under the category ‘My Self-Treatment Progress‘ so far. I will post again next week to share what my doctor had to say and then regularly with updates on my progress.
